Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (Controversy, Advantages) - A Drama

Script of Drama on Koodankulam Project

Vishal           :Dear Brothers and Sisters, listen to me. There is a big danger to us. The government is setting a nuclear power plant in our Koodankulam. It is equivalent to 1000 atomic bombs, if it starts working, it will destroy us and our future generations.

Nitish           :  Let us join hands and start a movement. We should oppose this plant

Gokul           :  We should observe a hunger strike

Now, the narrator Kanaka enters the scene And explains the situation.

Kanaka         :  Now, we are going to perform a short drama about the Koodankulam project, its protest, discussions, etc.

                       Let us see what the government says about the project.

Hari              :  (towards Yuvan) Hi, I am Hari, from central Government

Yuvan           :  (to Hari) Hi, I am Yuvan representing Tamil Nadu Government

Akash           :  (to Hari) Hi, I am Akash. I am also to represent State Government

Hari              :  I have a news from our Prime Minister to your Chief Minister that the Koodankulam plant shall maintain highest safety standards.

Yuvan           :  But our people living around the plant have fear about it.

Akash           :  we shall organise an open discussion with the protestors.

Hari              :  Yes, u are right.

Yuvan           :  we invite eminent professors and scientist in this field for the discussion

Akash           :  Good

Again, the narrator Kanaka enters the scene And explains the situation.

Kanaka         :  Now, the discussion shall start. Dr.Abdul Kalam and Professor Varsha have agreed to participate in the discussion.

Hari              :  Dear fellow men, I welcome to the session.

Vishal, Nitish :           Hello

Yuvan           :  Hello, brethrens. From our point of view, the project is so advantageous.

Vishal           : No doubt, it is advantageous but is unsafe too.

Akash           :  There is a study on the safety aspects of the project which concludes it safe.

Hari              :  Safest of all the nuclear power plants working in our country.

Nitish           :  But the persons who made the study did not meet any of villagers.

Varsha         : This report is about safety. Common people may not understand it.

Gokul           : Why don’t you make it available to public

Hari/Akash  :  We shall publish it in the website  

Venkat         : (as Dr.Kalam) In fact the plant is safest of all the plants available all over the world.

Nitish           :  I wonder How Mr.Kalam talk about the power plant. He is a missile Engineer.

Yuvan           :  I want to ask you one question, are air and water available in the moon?

Vishal           :  I don’t know, why you are asking this

Yuvan           :  Just answer to me.

Gokul           :  No, not available.

Yuvan           :  How, do you say so? Have you gone to Moon?

Nitish           :  We read it. To answer this we need not to go to Moon

Yuvan           :  Like that Dr.Kalam need not to be the Nuclear Power Scientist.

Varsha         : Missile science includes Nuclear physics too

Venkat         :  I made this statement after study of the plants.

Vishal           : The latest Japan tsunami damaged the plant.

Hari              : The plant is designed against the tsunami and earth quake too.

Akash           :  This is the latest design                                                                                

Nitish           : Whatever you say, the nuclear wastes are harmful

Vishal           :  Nuclear accident, radiation leak are very dangerous to Environment

Varsha         :  No, now-a-days, safe plants are designed. We learnt from many disasters.

Gokul           :  There is a case in Court to stay all nuclear projects.

Venkat         :Do you know, when train was invented, there were huge protests. The steam engine made loud noise.

                       People feared that their buffaloes would not milk, hens would not yield eggs, on hearing the thundering noise. So they filed in court against railway.

Vishal           :  Yes, I too know

Hari              :  The priest said that the production power is with God and Satan only. The train was not the product of god.

Gokul           : Is it?

Hari              : Yes, they advised not to use the train.

Yuvan           : Yes, there was a huge protest against railway too.

Akash           :  So the fears are only guesses, Not the real one.

Varsha         : Sir, please tell about the uses of the plant

Hari              : The project has two reactors of two GW capacity.

Venkat         : It means it will serve to half of nation

Yuvan           : We will not face any power cut problem.

Nithish         :  Yes, we understood now.

Akash           :  If there is no protest, it would have started its production by this month.

Kanaka appears now and says

Kanaka         :  Ok, let us forget the past. What to do now?

Varsha         : Join hands to implement the Koodankulam plants.

Venkat         : Let us make our India a power nation by 2020

Kanaka         :  Dear viewers, how was it? First the neighbours protest the project and then after discussion, understood the truth. Agreed to co-operate. Let us dream, our India will become power nation by this power plant.
